At a glance
- Both materials describe retirement and temporary mapping of legacy Flash IDs.
- The announcement and pricing table differ on deepseek-v4-pro.
- Check identifiers, behavior, billing and rollback on the actual provider route.
Why identifiers deserve their own review
A model upgrade can retain an alias while changing its underlying version, capabilities or price. An unchanged request string does not prove an unchanged backend, and reseller-specific suffixes may differ from official identifiers.
Two official DeepSeek materials reviewed for this article describe Pro routing differently. We did not call the API to establish the live backend. This article documents the uncertainty and a way to investigate it.
What the sources agree on
The September 10 announcement recommends deepseek-flash and says retired deepseek-v4-flash and deepseek-v4-flash-vision-exp temporarily map to V4.1 Flash. The current pricing page also describes the retired Flash aliases and lists deepseek-flash as V4.1 Flash. Source 1 Source 2
New clients should check the currently recommended identifier. Existing integrations must also confirm whether their chosen provider accepts it; official routing rules do not automatically apply to every intermediary.
Where the Pro descriptions differ
The announcement states that, from September 14, 2026 at 04:00 UTC, deepseek-v4-pro requests would route to V4.1 Flash at Flash rates until V4.1 Pro launches. The current pricing table instead lists deepseek-v4-pro as V4-Pro-0813 with its own capability and pricing column. Source 1 Source 2
The evidence does not establish whether this reflects an update sequence or a later change. Neither page alone proves the live routing state. Ask the target provider to confirm the mapping when a production decision depends on it, and record when confirmation was obtained.
Preserve evidence and rollback
Inventory the endpoint, requested ID, SDK version, reasoning settings and required features. Run fixed, non-sensitive samples covering the behaviors the application uses: ordinary answers, structured output, streaming completion, tools and error handling.
Retain request IDs, usage, returned model fields and billing details. A returned field can help diagnosis, but an echoed alias is not independent proof of the backend version.
Make routing reviewable
Keep model selection in configuration, with a previous configuration, failure threshold and restoration procedure. Compare quality and cost for matched tasks, accounting for peak and off-peak pricing rather than mixing time periods.
For Youjie routes, check the current directory, permissions and provider details. Official IDs in this article are not a guaranteed mapping for every channel alias. Resolve material uncertainty before expanding traffic.
