Estimate token costs with a complete 10,000-request example

Calculate input and output charges separately, verify a $55 worked example, and identify costs that the estimate does not include.

Before you start

  • No sign-in or model call is needed for the estimate.
  • Check the actual channel rates and their units.

Applies to the interface reviewed on 2026-10-16 · Verification details

At a glance

  • Calculate input and output charges at their separate rates.
  • Example rates are illustrative, not a model price quote.
  • Caching, tiers, retries and tool charges need additional analysis.
Token calculator showing a 55 dollar estimate
Actual local preview using illustrative rates of $2 input and $5 output per million tokens; not a model quote.

Enter five values

Open the token calculator (Chinese interface). Use the following demonstration values. They are not prices for a specific model or account plan.

Field Example
Monthly requests 10000
Input tokens per request 1500
Output tokens per request 500
Input USD per million tokens 2
Output USD per million tokens 5

Verify the result

Input cost is 10000 × 1500 ÷ 1000000 × 2 = $30. Output cost is 10000 × 500 ÷ 1000000 × 5 = $25. The expected total is $55, with 20000000 tokens. This calculation has been checked against the current implementation. Change one field and verify the corresponding result.

Keep the units consistent

The rate fields expect dollars per million tokens. Convert per-thousand pricing before entering it. Do not use a per-request price as a token rate, and do not assume input and output use the same rate.

Understand the exclusions

This is a basic linear estimate. It does not automatically calculate caching, long-context tiers, effort multipliers, tool fees, time-based rates or retries. In the studio, skill text, expert instructions and included conversation history can increase input volume. Separate materially different request types when budgeting.

Compare estimates with real usage

Start with average volumes, then inspect a small representative workload and its variation. Long prompts and unusually large outputs deserve separate attention. Follow the usage review guide to compare the estimate with actual account records. Implementation and maintenance are additional business costs, not token charges.
