- Separate vendor claims, independent evidence and your own tests.
- Check the task and integration before comparing prices.
- Use a reversible pilot to measure complete workflow cost.
1. Does it match your task?
Recent Claude and Nemotron announcements illustrate different model roles. Source 1 Source 4 This article proposes an editorial evaluation method. Define inputs, outputs, acceptance criteria and volume before looking at rankings.
2. Is the capability actually available?
Separate general availability, restricted previews and future plans. Confirm the exact identifier, provider access, protocol and tools. A feature in a consumer app does not automatically exist through every API channel.
3. What produced the numbers?
Vendor benchmarks, customer reports, independent evaluations and internal tests answer different questions. Retain model versions, effort settings, tools and sample scope. A result supports claims about the tested setting, not every possible domain.
4. What does an accepted result cost?
Include input, output, caching, retries, tools and human review. Local deployments also have device and maintenance costs. Divide the total by accepted results and record effort settings separately.
5. Where are the operating boundaries?
Specify which documents may be sent, which tools may be called and which actions require approval. Test timeouts, missing information, invalid formats and permission failures.
6. How will you recover?
Start with a reversible task, keep the previous workflow and log the version and decision criteria. Expand only after meeting acceptance targets. This is implementation guidance; it does not imply that Youjie has tested or enabled every model mentioned.
